Has Come Full Circle
In 1976, she received a Bachelors in Social Work and
began working in the mental health field. Her experience was challenging
because the work involved the first phase of a government program called
'deinstitutionalization'… closing state mental hospitals and moving
patients into less restrictive environments. Fran's job was to work
directly with the hospital staff, the patients and their families, group
home facilities and rehabilitation programs to coordinate this major
transition.

Fran moved to Florida in 1978. Her next twenty years were spent working
in a variety of careers …among those were several sales and marketing
jobs, promotional work for artists in the music industry and ownership
of a catamaran sailing charter business. She also traveled extensively
and lived outside of the United States for five years.
After returning to the United States, Fran wanted to recapture her original
passion. She got her Masters in Social Work and began working in the
mental health field where she has been for the past nine years. She
works with those clients that long ago would have been placed in state
mental hospitals but now are in less restrictive environments. She is
a supervisor of two outpatient programs which are designed to help those
with mental illness reclaim and live life to their full potential.
Fran has extensive experience helping individuals and their families
struggling with and adapting to the challenges of mental illness such
as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, major depression and anxiety disorders.
This has been accomplished through individual, group and family therapy.
As a supervisor, she has also mentored and trained other professionals
to achieve their aspirations.
After coming full circle, Fran now wants to use her diverse experiences
to help people rediscover their strengths and find their passion.
